How to Organize Your Home‘s Seasonal Clothing
If you live in a place where the weather changes drastically throughout the year, you might have a lot of seasonal clothing that takes up space in your closet and drawers. Instead of letting them clutter your home, why not organize them in a way that makes it easy to switch them out when the seasons change? Here are some tips on how to do that.
– Sort your clothing by season. The first step is to go through your wardrobe and separate your clothing into four piles: spring, summer, fall, and winter. You can also create subcategories within each pile, such as formal, casual, work, etc. This will help you identify what you need and what you don’t for each season.
– Store your off-season clothing. Once you have sorted your clothing by season, you need to find a place to store the ones that you won’t be wearing for a while. You can use plastic bins, vacuum bags, or boxes to store them under your bed, in your attic, basement, or garage. Make sure to label each container with the season and the subcategory of clothing inside. You can also add some mothballs, lavender sachets, or cedar blocks to keep your clothing fresh and prevent pests.
– Organize your in-season clothing. Now that you have freed up some space in your closet and drawers, you can organize your in-season clothing in a way that makes it easy to find and wear. You can use hangers, dividers, baskets, or shelves to arrange your clothing by color, type, or occasion. You can also use hooks, racks, or bins to store your accessories, such as hats, scarves, belts, etc.
– Repeat the process every season. When the weather starts to change, you can repeat the process of sorting, storing, and organizing your clothing for the next season. This way, you will always have a neat and tidy closet and drawers that only contain the clothing that you need and love for the current season.
