If you’re like me, you probably have a lot of linens and bedding in your home. You know, sheets, pillowcases, duvets, blankets, towels, etc. They can take up a lot of space and make your closets look messy and cluttered. But don’t worry, I have some tips for you to organize your home’s linens and bedding and make them easier to find and use. Here they are:
1. Sort your linens and bedding by category. For example, separate your sheets from your pillowcases, your towels from your washcloths, your duvets from your blankets, and so on. This will help you see what you have and how much space you need for each category.
2. Purge what you don’t need or use. If you have linens and bedding that are stained, torn, faded, or just don’t match your style anymore, get rid of them. You can donate them to a shelter, a thrift store, or a recycling center. Or you can repurpose them into something else, like rags, pet beds, or crafts.
3. Label your linens and bedding. This will make it easier to find what you need and put them back where they belong. You can use labels, tags, stickers, or even color-coded bins or baskets to identify your linens and bedding by category, size, season, or room.
4. Fold your linens and bedding neatly and uniformly. This will save space and make your closets look tidy and organized. You can use a folding board or a ruler to help you fold your linens and bedding evenly. You can also roll them up if you prefer.
5. Store your linens and bedding by frequency of use. Put the ones that you use most often in the front and the ones that you use less often in the back. This will make it easier to access what you need without digging through piles of stuff.
6. Store your linens and bedding by season. If you have linens and bedding that are only used in certain seasons, like flannel sheets or wool blankets, store them away when they are not in use. You can use vacuum bags, plastic bins, or under-bed storage boxes to keep them clean and protected from dust and pests.
7. Store your linens and bedding by room. If you have different sets of linens and bedding for different rooms in your home, store them in the closets or drawers of those rooms. This will make it easier to change the bed or the towels without having to go to another room.
8. Store your linens and bedding with their matching pieces. If you have sets of linens and bedding that go together, like sheets and pillowcases or duvets and covers, store them with each other. You can tuck the pillowcases inside the folded sheets or the covers inside the folded duvets to keep them together.
9. Store your linens and bedding vertically instead of horizontally. This will allow you to see everything at a glance and grab what you need without disturbing the rest of the stack. You can use shelf dividers, baskets, or bins to keep your linens and bedding upright and separated.
10. Store your extra pillows in pillowcases or shams. If you have extra pillows that are not in use, store them in pillowcases or shams that match your linens and bedding. This will protect them from dust and dirt and make them look like decorative pillows on your bed or couch.
I hope these tips help you organize your home’s linens and bedding and make them more enjoyable to use. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
